This course has these components:

  1. Weekly classes where concepts of language use, and pronunciation are introduced and practiced.
  2. Development of Dictionary translation skills (not google translate!)
  3. A focus on vocabulary building
  4. Development of language skills in conjunction with performance and presentation of songs

Students who successfully complete the course should be able to:

  • Learning Outcomes

    Confidently read, translate and pronounce, for both spoken and sung purposes texts, vocabulary, and common terms.

    Expertise in recitative, song texts, and simple spoken vocabulary with direct relation to musical terminology will be developed across the course.

Assessments overall are regarding the diction, and comprehension of language texts, songs, arias and recitatives for the purpose of performance singing. Presentation, and communication skills are also considered in assessments.
